.:. .:. .:.
This is an incomplete list of books that have greatly impacted my life:
The Bible
The Elsie Dinsmore Series | Martha Finley
Hidden Art | Edith Schaeffer
So Much More | Anna Sofia and Elizabeth Botkin
For the Family’s Sake | Susan Schaeffer Macaulay
Passionate Housewives Desperate for God | Jenny Chancey & Stacey MacDonald
The Courtship Series | Mr. & Mrs. Newcastle
The Chronicles of Narnia | C. S. Lewis
Art for God’s Sake | Philip Graham Ryken
Talks to Girls | Elanor A. Hunter
Daughters of Destiny | Noelle Wheeler, editor
Charlotte Mason Companion | Karen Andreola
I Kissed Dating Goodbye | Joshua Harris
Boy Meets Girl | Joshua Harris

Art books: (Many art books contain inappropriate images. Books to be wary of are marked with an asterisk*)
Drawing People* | Barbara Bradley
Probably the best book out there on drawing people. For practice, I just copied a lot of her work to help me loosen up and see things a little differently.
Facial Expressions* | Gary Fagin
This has loads of info on the muscles in the face.
The Art of Portrait Drawing: Learn the Essential Techniques of the Masters* | Joy Thomas
One of my favorites on strictly portraits. There’s also a neat drawing of a skull that I copied. Very helpful.
The Book of a Hundred Hands | George B. Bridgman
Copied several pictures from this book as well. Lots of little bones, muscles and tendons!
Keys to Drawing with Imagination: Strategies and Exercises for Gaining Confidence and Enhancing Your Creativity* | Bert Dodson
Had fun with this one, learning how to freely doodle without being concerned about the outcome.

I am new to your blog, and I was looking at some of your stuff when I fell upon a reading list. I have really enjoyed reading the Elsie Dinsmore series as well! I still take them out the odd time to re-read them. They really impacted my life. As well as “I Kissed Dating Goodbye”. Thanks for sharing with me!
Blessings,
Alanna

@Keturah: I need to update that summer reading list! I haven’t read anything disappointing yet, having not had as much time to read lately. But “Stepping Heavenward” is being reread for the fourth time and is as good as ever. :) “For the Family’s Sake” and “The Family” are also favorites.
@Alanna: The Elsie Dinsmore series was also a blessing in my young life. I listened to the first three books on tape over and over. :)
