What I ate for breakfast + Recipe

“Toast and Cream”

Toasted bread, thoroughly punctured with a fork. Oh, and a good sprinkling of sugar . . .

. . . And milk poured over the top. Mmmm!

Extra good with homemade bread!

Toast and Cream Recipe:

- Two slices of homemade bread
- Spoonful of sugar
- Enough cold milk to soak your bread

Toast your bread till it’s golden brown. Place toast on a plate and puncture with a fork until the tops of both pieces are covered in holes. Sprinkle a spoonful of sugar over both pieces (you may use more or less as you wish). Pour the milk over your sugared toast until they’re soaked through.

Grab your fork and enjoy!

That looks so interesting! How do you toast it? In the toaster or the oven?
Could you give the recipe?

I, too, like Sarah forget to eat breakfast. But when I remember :) I shall try this new delicacy for a delightful change.

We are getting ready for a family get-together for Thanksgiving in a few hours, with over 20 adults, and all the kiddos. Should prove to be interesting.

Love Always,
Marg

Sounds delicious! Brings to mind a sort of depression era “french toast”. Simple things are wonderful! :)
Hugs to you,

Yummy! Even though, I don’t like milk… :D Once when I was in Austria, my home-stay family took the milk out of the fridge, warmed it up, and poured it over their cornflakes, or whatever it was. I haven’t really been fond of milk since. :P But the toast and sugar bit sounds alright!

I’m almost positive I’ve asked you this before, but I have a forgetful mind. What recipe do you use for your homemade bread? It looks very good!

Have a very bright, very cheerful day!

My Grandmother Blanche always fixed us Milk Toast…she would allow the toast to cool.. next she would put cold whipped butter all over both sides of the toast…then she would add the milk and black pepper! mmmmmm
