I posted a link to the Botkin's article on my Facebook page and it started a firestorm of discussion! I have not read the books...just haven't been that interested in them but I was curious why all these women were flocking to the movies and reading the books multiple times. I really liked what the Botkin's had to say but I must admit it made several of my friends quite upset. They are Christians but enjoy the "escape" of the book and the somewhat unique story. I've noticed that those who've read the books become very defensive when you start to ask why they're drawn to it. I definitely think that in this case the "escape" is probably not worth it.

Hi Breezy-
I've found and have enjoyed your site for a few months now. Thank you so much for the link to the Botkins' article on 'Twilight'. I think I am troubled by 'Twilight' based off of the fact that the author is a member of the LDS church and claims she lets her religious beliefs dictate the level of appropriateness of male-female interaction in her books; yet her books are not really appropriate for young lady Christian readers AT ALL. The Botkin sisters managed to hit the nail on the head with the "uneasiness" I was feeling about the series. Thank you for providing such a great link! By the way, you and your sister did such a lovely job with the paperdolls! I wish you all the best!

I know very little about Twilight..at all. I am not allowed to read the books or see the movies though, but its crazy that now they have shirts, chocolate bars, lunch bags, games and more already about the series.

Many blessings,

WOW! I read both articles and I completely agree w/ both! Twilight has had SO much influence over girls and women, and I'm glad others feel the way I do about the evil contained in both the books and movies. One of my good friends, a pastor's daughter, has the entire series on her shelf... and I've had to discuss the issue of the books with young pre-teens at my Bible Study in the past.
Thanks SO much for sharing these links!!!

God bless!

At the high school I used to go to, that's all the girls would talk about. I have no interest in vampires or Twilight. It is so comforting to know that I'm not the only girl out there who doesn't fall head-over-heels for a vampire.

I am with you on this. I didn't know anything about this series until hearing about the movie. I, myself, cannot understand how eyes can be so blind to the evil in these. I do not even need to read/watch them to know they are not good/edifying. I admit, I've been keeping very quite about it -- even when friends literally obsess over the characters, namely "Edward".
I pray for eyes and hearts to be open to Truth. Thank you for sharing these...I pray someone gleans wisdom and understanding from the information provided.

Thank you for posting this, Breezy! I too was just sitting here wondering why so many Christian girls are enamored of this series. This helps me remember why I am not.

Thank you so much for posting this, Breezy! I haven't read the books, so I only knew about them through others' remarks. The articles you posted were enlightening and thought-provoking. I feel much better informed now, and have a much better reason for *why* I haven't/won't read the books. Thank you!

Blessings,
Shannon

I've read the first two, but I haven't read the last link yet. I'm just so glad that some Christians are taking what seems to me to be the obvious choice, and standing against this.

Thanks for the links!
